With the Australian Open in full swing (no pun intended) and Melbourne turning on some hot and sticky weather, it was probably a day better suited to watching tennis in the shade than hanging out in Melbourne’s laneways. But despite the heat, it was fantastic to kick off 2025 with the Melbourne Street Art Collective’s first catch-up in Presgrave Place.
While we were missing a few regulars, Sunday’s session still had a fantastic turnout of artists, showcasing a wide range of styles. It was awesome to welcome back some familiar faces we hadn’t seen for a while, and super exciting to meet new artists joining us for their first (hopefully of many) sessions.
So, what went on?
it wouldn’t be a Melbourne Street Art Collective session without a door! Once again, @v_is_4_vasso and @onskiworld delivered with an incredible piece featuring contributions from both local and international artists.
After stepping out from behind the camera last session to complete her first street art piece, @marinas.kaleidoscope upped her game and created her first stencil—an amazing effort that turned out beautifully.
@monomelbourne was unstoppable, tackling stencils, paste-ups, stickers, dioramas, and even decorating power lines with some brightly embellished shoes.
@monsterfriendss dropped by with some friends, adding a playful energy to the day.
@phoenixthestreetartist swung past to add some of his signature paste-ups to the laneway.
It was great to see @jl.art back! You have to check out his latest addition to Cat Corner.
@jamesmcleanart joined us, bringing along his creations inspired by Picasso and Basquiat. His unique style always stands out!
@sb6six returned to transform a forgotten doorway with two stunning stencils.
@el_rolo.art quickly turned a boring roller door into another incredible piece.
Watching @diegosalas_d.s in action is as impressive as the finished piece itself.
@robbo__t added a framed piece, of a robotic hand clutching a heart, to the many frames already adoring the Presgrave Place walls
Welcome to the Newcomers
We were thrilled to welcome some new artists to the session:
@ellibardas, whose photography-inspired artwork pops and demands a closer look.
@alfieium, who brought along some intricate, multi-layered stencils.
@dgmonsters (Daniel), who shared beautifully detailed paste-ups.
@mim.chelle, who not only added a gold framed piece that fitted straight into the Presgrave Place aesthetic, but also produced a very cool reel that perfectly captured the day. Be sure to check it out!
As usual, we wrapped up with drinks and a catch-up. If you’ve been thinking about joining, everyone is welcome! Our next session will be at Centre Place/Degraves Street on Sunday, 9th February, from 11am with a Valentine’s Day theme. Hope to see you there!
